They say there are gods…

They say there are gods to pray to for this, statements always predicated on the assumption that you’re not crazy enough to do it. The risk is implicit: pray to shadow gods and hell awaits. Not hell in the conventional sense. More of a nightmare in daytime persistence. Something that writhes behind your eyes and fills your cupped hands with blood. They say that nobody would risk an infernal pestilence just to kill a man. They say nothing’s worth damnation, but I disagree…

Just a little bit of flash fiction I wrote the other day. It may or may not turn into a bigger story.
